HI, I just installed a new set of tubes 3 weeks ago and am now noticing that when I turn on the amp it makes a static, crackly noise. Does that mean the power tube is gone? It is a Fender champion 600. 1 12ax7 and 1 6v6.
This is really disappointing. It seems to ease up after the amp is on for a bit.

What was wrong with the original tubes? Try replacing one of the tubes with the older ones and see which one creates the noise.

The old power tube was gone, so I replaced both them. They were working fine and then I swapped out the speaker for a larger 8" celestion. I notice that the rubber band around the speaker magnet touches the power tube. But it just started making the noise.

I'm DEFINITELY no expert but, if some part of the speaker is touching the output tube, perhaps speaker vibration is the culprit?

I was able to adjust the amp head so that the tube isn't touching any part of the speaker and the noise is gone.
