Here is my new Marshall Vintage Modern 2266C, a 50 watt 2x12 combo. And I actually like the purple colour!

It arrived a couple of days ago, but I just got around to taking a quick picture. This thing sounds great and, although I am still learning how to dial it in, I am fairly certain that it will easily give me the thick, creamy, British blues type of tones that I am after. If I can get into Duane Allman & Dickey Betts territory then I'll be thrilled.

Although it is used, it is basically in mint condition and was clearly someone's basement amp. Not bad for only $599. And no, the grill cloth is not see through - the camera's flash must be what causes the picture to make it seem like it is.

Had one for a bit, moved it on fairly quickly mostly because I didn't fully understand it. I wanted to use it as 2 channels, but really it's not that....it's one, with a fairly gainy and loud boost. The base clean or edgy tone was to die for, but for me the boost tone sucked.

Yeah they take some time to learn. They are one channel amps and the two pre-amp controls act as if you have jumpered a four hole Marshall.

Interesting amp. Congrats on the purchase. Compared to the new list price, heckuva deal. KT66 power tubes, and a digital reverb. The presence of a digital reverb is just fine. Springs are nice too, but digital done well is better than springs done poorly. KT66s are supposed to sound nice.

The detail/body controls are interesting. I poked around for a schematic but in the absence of one, all I can surmise is that they dictate how hard the front end is pushed by lows and highs, which are further tailored by the 3 EQ controls further downstream. This should provide wads of tonal flexibility. Of course, in the world of music gear, one player's "flexible" is another player's "steep learning curve", depending on how one typically conceives of achieving the desired tone.

But nice. Not that it's a deal-breaker but what's the weight like?
