New to guitar, and researching Peter Green? You're on the right path my friend.
Yeah interesting enough I was in a guitar store killing time before Alice Cooper and some dude brings in four guitars for consignment.

First he opened up was a Green VOS reissue. Then opened a Clapton reissue an R4 I think and couldnt remember the other one.

Cool store. I asked to handle the Peter Green model and was surprised when they said yes. Great feeling guitar. I said it must sound awesome. Dude replies he doesn't know. Never been plugged in before!

... Just picked up a 2015 LP Traditional. Seem to like the thick neck.
The 2015s are good guitars IMO. Wide neck and small frets. I have a 2015 Firebird V which has become my main and a 2015 LPJ bought used. Looked at 2015 Traditional a few months ago but decided that I don’t need another guitar.

Woah, new to guitar and jumped right into a trad and already have a neck preference?

Welcome. Tell us more.
Yeah to be honest I read Slash's book and decided to buy a guitar. Always liked that LP design.

I did a little research before buying and looked for a wider fretboard guitar. After handling a bunch of guitars, I noticed a preference for thicker necks. I have no experience but just going on first impressions I made a choice. Some dude mentioned HP models are wider than normal models. Great thing about Gibson website is the dimensions they post. So I looked at the guitars the last couple of years and seen the 2015 Gibsons all had wider necks. Bonus is the 2015 line come cheaper as traditional Gibson guys dislike some of the changes. Electro-tuners, brass nut, wider neck. I can replace the tuners with Grovers (would do that anyway), bone nut made with slightly wider string spacing (I have large hands) to maximize neck width.

Just need to learn how to play this thing.

Welcome aboard from another fan of the Green Manalishi.

So front row at a Metallica concert is actually pretty sweet. Watched Hammett play Greeny for two whole songs in Saskatoon yesterday. Looks like a roadie takes it backstage in a soft gig bag prior to the end of the set.
