I've been looking for a 210 extension cab for my Markbass 115 combo.
Picked up a STD 410HF4 this morning from the original owner.
800w, 4 Ohm.
I couldn't crank it because he's an apartment dweller.
Said that it never left his living room since purchase in '13.
He even tossed in a speakon cable.

I have 3 options.
1- use it the way it is with just the head
2- disconnect two speakers (putting it at 8 ohm) and use it as an extension cab
3- trade it in for a 210, 8 ohm cab (I'm going to investigate this option).

The only problem with it is cosmetic.
Cat hair and it used the cab as a scratching post.
Figure I'll brush/vacuum/trim the rat fur.

I like option 1. Does the head need it's own headshell or can you pull it out of the combo and use as is?
Then you can sell/trade the cab w/115.

Interesting idea.
I'm also considering leaving the cab at our band's rehearsal space and just carry the head back and forth.
It does come out (4 screws) as a stand alone unit.

You can probably tell I hate my single 15 but can actually hear a 4x10.

Two options. One, get a electric razor for sweatera. They’re meant to remove the little balls that form on sweaters and leotards.

(My preference) get hair clippers with the shortest attachment and give it a haircut. I bet it would come out fine.

Tried that route. doesn't quite work too well.
If all else fails, Ill strip and paint it with that truck liner crap. lol.

I have 3 sides coming along.
A light brushing to bring up the fur then cut with scissors with the shop vac close behind.
Tried one of those BIC razors. Seems to work.
Tedious though.

I'll be trying it tomorrow night at band rehearsal.
Compare with the 115 then both together.

The razor works pretty good for evening out the fluff after putting the scissors to it.
A final touch is using a heat gun to lightly singe the cloth to get it more even.

Why has carpet been so popular for cabinets for mainly PA and car audio from what I've seen. Is it acoustic reasons or. Do people just like cat hair pulling and harsh wear and tear?

Apparently, it's more durable than tolex in that it doesn't tear as easily.
