Well, it was one of those serendipitous days...I spent the morning helping a friend move, then helped my mom with a few things and came home to rest. I opened up the laptop and went on kijiji and found this very cool short scale bass. I have loved these for years but never had the cash for a Fender and never see the Squier's come up used, ever. When I saw this one and it was local I called right away and was lucky enough to score it. Good karma I guess...lol. It has hardly been played and is in excellent shape. I promptly threw on a set of flatwounds and couldn't be happier. Such a great sounding and easy playing bass. Now I just need to put a competition stripe on it. Have these models been discontinued?

That model was discontinued a while back; great basses and I really don't know why the mustang got the axe. Fender released a newer PJ mustang recently, but it doesn't have the same vibe as the classic mustang.

Thanks Ronbeast, I tried one of the MIM pj mustangs at a local store and while it looked great I didn't care for the pickup combination nor the larger pbass pickup. It also had switch issues which new guitars shouldn't have when the price tag is at the higher end of $1000. I'm really chuffed about this bass.

I'm fully abandoning the full scale bass from now on. Too much work. I recently got the squier Jaguar in black.

I'm putting a set of MJS pickups in there. I like yours.

Squier VM (Vintage Modified) basses are really good value. I have a VM Jazz bass.

I picked it up for $200 and it came with a Vox pathfinder 10B amp and a cable.

That's a find. I got my jaguar bass for $200 with a good soft case and a little practice amp. And patch chord. They're $330 with tax and zilch else.
