So I can only play short scale basses as I am finger challenged. I put an ad here, and on Kijiji. I saw the EB-2's listed here and really wanted one, but alas, I am also cash challenged.
So, today I get a reply from my Kijiji ad, and lo and behold, I am the owner of a 70's Yamaha SA-75 short scale bass. Its almost mint. maybe one or two very tiny scuffs. Nice small frets and it has a great feel.
Man, is it ever fun to play. The sound is awesome. Similar to a jazz bass, but way more woody, if that makes any sense.
Nice how sometimes things work out....

So I just finished playing it for a while on a good amp. Its got a great tone.
With only the bridge PUP on and the tone rolled off, I can get really really good Jazz bass tone.

As close as I have had with a bass where I could really nail a good Jaco tone. Its got really good flatwounds, and the frets are tiny and its easy to make it sound like a fretless.
