I picked up this 4210 Combo on the weekend. I've always wanted to try a JCM 800 and I have also been wanting a combo for smaller gigs. I can also use it with my 4x12 for more thud which is nice. I know this isn't the holy grail 2203/2204 but I'm really happy with the rock and metal tones I'm getting.
It's was made in 1984 and has the infamous channel bleed. I'm using it as a single channel amp so the bleed doesn't bother me at all. Im boosting it with a MXR 10 band EQ to get a really thick grind and turning that off gets me enough of a drop in gain for my "cleans". The fx loop is also a lot nicer than the paralllel loop on the Dual Rec for the delay and harmony pedals I'm using.

Cool! I how do you set the eq in your loop? I was boosting with a tubescreamer but I noticed a bit of a loss of bass so I used the MXR out front as a boost and and to dial the bass back in. I've only had a few hours to experiment with it so far so I'm probably going to end up trying a bunch of different stuff on it just for fun. Any tips or tricks you can share for your 2210 would be interesting to hear.
Thanks

It's working out great! I'm boosting with a TS 808 clone now now and ended up with the M shape on the MXR in the loop. I can get pretty much anything from bluesy rock to death metal out of it now and it's nice to have a big sound in a small combo. Id like to try a 2205 or 2210 head from later in the years to see if they really have more gain. From what I've read the circuit changed a little in 86. I definitely don't need more gain than this combo puts out boosted but I'm just curious to see how big a difference there really is.
