So I have this cheap made in Taiwan Boss DS-1 that I'd like to get modded. This stock pedal actually sounds pretty good with my current stuff, but it is pretty noisy sometimes.

Anyways, does anyone have some experience with a modded DS-1?

I've done 2 ds-1's so far. It's pretty easy as long as you take your time and have a decent soldering iron.

You can get a kit from Monte Allums (complete with bonehead-proof directions) or there are a few sites that details specific mods you can do.

I would recommend the monte allums kit if this is your first mod. I think he has a few different ones depending on the flavor your looking for.

There are also instructions on the net on how to mod your DS-1 to Keeley SEM specs. I did one of those and compared it to a Keeley modded one and they were exactly the same.

Cool. Did you have a link to that Keeley mod?

This is the link: http://www.robertkeeley.com/audio6l6/dstech.html

It's pretty straight forward but YOU have to go out and find the components - not to hard but the do add up when purchased individually. That's why the Monte Allums mods are such good deals.
