About a month ago, I bought my first Telecaster. A beautiful looking blonde, 2013 American Special.
I wasn't used to playing Telecasters so I blamed much of a buzzing that I was hearing around the third fret of the 5th string to my fumble fingers. Or maybe, this was the natural sound emitted from a Tele, or I was plucking the strings to hard. I tried changing my playing technique. It seemed help a little, but the rattle was still there and my quest for a clean, milky smooth sound that I had heard from other Telecasters eluded me. At least, on those strings.
Finally, this "sizzle" coming from that area of the 5th string, and sometimes the 6th, of my guitar was getting more on my nerves. So, I took it to a tech in my town for a setup. Of course, he assured me it would be taken care of. I got it back and the strings were so high that it was quite difficult to play...and it still buzzed. I was told by local players that I should have taken it to this other tech with 25 years experience and a great reputation. I did. It still buzzes. Both of these guys have checked the nut and frets, changed the strings, and adjusted the neck. I am starting to think about looking for another Telecaster and trade this one in. I really don't want to.
Can anybody out there suggest what I should do?

Take it back to the second tech and ask him to play it (or listen to you play it) and tell him that the issue isn't properly resolved.

I had this same issue with my strat, couldnt figure out what it was. There is a tech located in my town in bolton (Caledon) in a shop called Music 21. His name is bryan and he is one of the best around. sent it to him and its never been better. Now your quit the trip away but if the tele is worth it, you may make the trip for it. heres a link to their store. Services

I will certainly keep that in mind and maybe give him a call. Thank you. I don't mind driving the distance if he could find the problem. Sure would hate to drive up, pay to have it done and still have it buzz.

This is a long shot, but is the pickguard at all loose? I've gotten buzziness from those.
No, the buzz is in the strings. I have got it into yet another tech and waiting to hear how he makes out. I really love the guitar and so want him to be successful.
If he is, I will tell the world that if they need a tech that solves what seems to be the impossible, go to him.
