About a month ago, I bought my first Telecaster. A beautiful looking blonde, 2013 American Special.
I wasn't used to playing Telecasters so I blamed much of a buzzing that I was hearing around the third fret of the 5th string to my fumble fingers. Or maybe, this was the natural sound emitted from a Tele, or I was plucking the strings to hard. I tried changing my playing technique. It seemed help a little, but the rattle was still there and my quest for a clean, milky smooth sound that I had heard from other Telecasters eluded me. At least, on those strings.
Finally, this "sizzle" coming from that area of the 5th string, and sometimes the 6th, of my guitar was getting more on my nerves. So, I took it to a tech in my town for a setup. Of course, he assured me it would be taken care of. I got it back and the strings were so high that it was quite difficult to play...and it still buzzed. I was told by local players that I should have taken it to this other tech with 25 years experience and a great reputation. I did. It still buzzes. Both of these guys have checked the nut and frets, changed the strings, and adjusted the neck. I am starting to think about looking for another Telecaster and trade this one in. I really don't want to.
Can anybody out there suggest what I should do?
