I have a small collection of vintage Marshall heads from 1970-73. But I only have one vintage Basket weave cab. I've had local ads looking to buy another Basketweave or Checkerboard cab but no responses. I'm thinking of going another route and searching for a good cab that isn't vintage. Do any of you play through a 1960HW? 1960ax or bx? Hendrix cabs from the Super JH etc

Anyway, I know I can pick up an ax/bx fairly easily and have a lead on a minty used 1960bhw. Any advice on whether I should settle for a newer one or just be patient and hope for a vintage cab?

Thanks in advance! Here is my '71 Basket Weave..

I should clarify, I only have one Cab of any type and including my SLO100, I have 5 heads total so at the very least, I need at least one more cab. I doubt a JH cab will ever come up but it's one of the coolest so I thought I'd mention. Are there other Marshall's from the past 20 years that have the vintage look and good tone?

The Marshall 1960TV has been a fav of mine. Prefer it's resonance to the smaller cabs, although the AX has a similar vibe with the Greenbacks. Don't get suckered into the HW series: cabs are all hand-wired - it's not like there are PCBs in there!

OH yeah, I forgot about the TV cab! The HW cab is used but mint so it wouldn't be too much more than a regular used AX cab. I read the Heritage speakers are good in the HW. What speakers are in the TV cab? I think I have buddy with one of those he was trying to sell last year, maybe I'll give him a shout.

Used is cool. There's nothing wrong with the HW cab, and you get the G12h30s, which I love. I just wouldn't pay a premium for it new (or used) for it being "hand-wired."

The TV has regular 25w Greenbacks.

I agree 100% about the HW name being a bit silly for a cab. I've never heard g12h-30's before so I'm looking forward to checking it out.

I'm sure Derrick Bell could build you one to your specs.

Is that seriously over 45 years old? I don't think I've ever seen an old one in that nice shape. They are notorious magnets for door frames, handrails and anything else that sticks out. And apparently large enough to have their own gravity field.

Thanks! Yeah, I got it as a package both are 100% original, same month of early 1971 and came with the original covers too!
I've got a 1960BHW that I've had for about 8 years, it's a good sounding cabinet but both my mid 70's with greenbacks and my early 80's with G12-65 speakers sound better to me.
I'm disappointed to hear that it doesn't hold up to the vintage cabs but I'm not surprised! I'd love to grab another vintage cab but they have gotten really expensive. I wonder if the TV cab would sound compared to the HW cabs.
