Are there any builders in here who build stringed instruments other than guitars? When I first started building I was given the advice of building a smaller instrument . The build is basically the same and if you shag up than you are not out a lot of money....Turned out to be good advice because the actual building of the guitars afterwards was a breeze...Not to mention, I now have a couple of new mandolins to play around with.

I've built a couple 'ukuleles, a mandolin, and most recently two violins.

Hey Matt...Thanks for the reply. Nice looking mandolins. I am not to familiar with the ukes but the shape looks interesting...does the sound be changed with the different shape? As for the Violin , these look to be very difficult to make and twice as hard to play. I have bought most of my woods from BC. Mostly EAst Indian Rosewood and Mahogany....Take care Lab
