Italia Rimini

They are obviously the Italian take on the Rickenbacker. I have always been intrigued by this guitar but have never had the chance to play one yet. They come in 6 string, 12 string and 6/12 versions. They are priced around $1100.00 CAD.

With a wealth of color and finish options, Wilkinson Mini-Humbuckers and a choice of 6 or 12 string versions, the Rimini range will give you a healthy dose of option anxiety. Choose from Pearl fronts, beautiful natural wood backs and necks — all with matching headstocks. These instruments sound as good as they look and deliver that classic 'British guitar band' sound. The Rimini is light weight to play but provides heaviweight sound.

Pay me? I don't understand.
Slightly OT, but I don't understand why there aren't more inexpensive decent quality electric 12s on the market. Squier would make a killing if they reissued the Electric XII and put it under the CV series or something. I don't play 12 strings enough to justify a $2200 Ric (had one, sold it) or even an $1100 copy of one, but they are a pretty fun thing to mess around on from time to time.

he means, you frequently advertise guitars you have no actual knowledge of/experience with.

That seems to be it. The market doesn't warrant enough sales of 12 string guitars from any one company so they can be a bit more pricey. You can get a pretty decent one if you look around. Rondo and a few others make decent ones at decent prices.

The way I see it is this: he posts about specific guitars. It's fodder for a thread. Love it, hate it, blah blah. Sometimes that makes for lively conversations. Sometimes not. If nothing else, we find out a bit more about people's tastes in guitars.

It's really not that big a deal.

If anyone is paying this guy, its Musicians Friend. It may have been Godin in the past but I don't think so now. It's gotta be MF and the UPS store just on the US side of the border.

"buy from MF and send it to the UPS store at the border, pick it up yourself, save the taxes and duties, waste a bunch of your own time to save 50 bucks,,..blah blah blah."
-Steadly, probably
Years ago, I thought I came across an old thread where a 12 string Tele was given away in a GC contest. Any thing like this happen or am I confused?
It was green and sparkly I believe. I'd like to know whatever happened to that guitar and I would like a guitar like it. 12 string Tele would be awesome.

This Italia goes for just over a grand on Musician's Fiend, but US$850 new on ebay; US$750 on Amazon.com. Didn't Dano make a cheap 12er at one point? ... yep - CA$550: Danelectro 12SDC 12-String Electric Guitar

A bud got the first Reverend 12 string in Canada a while back and he's been hiding it away from me; dying to try that thing. It retails for about 1.6k tho.

Itd be nice if there was some context provided.
Otherwise it's not far from posting a thread like this:

Hey, at least it's a starting point. Agreed though, I'd like to see the OP state his own reaction first.

Well, Maxer, as I said in my OP that I have been intrigued by this guitar. I tried to find one in Hamilton when I lived in St. Catharines but the dealer didn't have any inventory. If I ever find one to play, I'll come back to this thread and let you know what I think.
Kind of neat, though would there not be some heavy stresses on the one side of the headstock?
A couple of years ago the Guitar Boutique in Whitby had a couple. Not 12's though. The were greatly reduced in price. Not as much as the Reverend I scored at the time though.

I can't comment on that, but when I look at the guitar, all I see is that headstock. Not that I like it or hate it (still haven't decided) but it just seems to be a magnet I have to get past to see the rest of the guitar. It is good to see someone try something different.

Now about that fingerboard. Rosewood? Oh, oh.........

For certain Mr. Steadly is an easy target but if all you have is to complain about what threads he's started, why not start your own?
It appeared to me he was quite clear on what he knew about this guitar - not much - but found it interesting enough to ask other's opinions of it. Isn't that the point of a guitar forum-to talk about guitars??
I'd rather he just didn't cut and paste info too but whatever, no big deal, at least he's interested in guitars which, again, is the whole point.

Sure, but you could still have commented on what you specifically like about the guitar, rather than being so brief and general. Shape? Finish? The fact that it's a 12 string?
As a guitar enthusiast I like to see what's on the market, and share opinions. It really can't be a paid promotion if others have the opportunity to come back and pan the product. Plus different competing products have been featured.

I've seen Italia guitars at shows over the years and there were things about the styling that I both liked and hated. Many seemed too brassy looking for me. This one is quite attractive in my opinion, despite its take off on the Ricky.
