1) Right Click a blank spot on desktop.
2) click Properties
3) Click the "Desktop" Tab
4) Click the "Customize Desktop" button
5) Click "Web" tab
6) Click the "New..." button
7) In the box that pops up, where it asks "location", paste the following:

http://web173.unit9.net/index.php?module=Default&action=Flash

8) Hit Ok
9) Hit Ok...Ok...then another OK...
10) Resize the box by dragging the edges/corners to fill the entire screen or as needed. It might take a bit of tweaking to get it perfect.
11) Enjoy your new Elf. This only works if your computer is connected to the internet.

If you don't like it, or do not want it any longer,

1) click start
2) click control panel
3) Click the "Desktop" Tab
4) Click the "Customize Desktop" button
5) Click "Web" tab
6) Uncheck the box that says "send an elf" or something similar to that.
7) Hit OK
8) Hit Ok...etc
9) You are back to your old desktop picture again.

haha yeah its pretty sick. And if you press H, he shoots out a huge ball of FIRE!!! lol

anyway, the only thing I dislike is the annoyiing snoring sound he makes when he falls asleep. But, other than that, I really like it.

here is another really really cool one I use every Christmas as a background, because it has some nice music too:

http://www.unwrong.com/projects/snowglobe/dswmedia/snowglobe.html

do the same procedure as with the Elf, but use the above link. Also, uncheck the box for the elf ("send an elf") under the "web" tab, so that both the elf and snowglobe are not on at the same time. Have fun!

You can basically use any web page, flash game, anything really. Lots of fun to mess around with. Sure beats a plain old picture desktop.

oh beware, the snowglobe eats processor power and ram.

Even if you choose not to use it as a desktop, at least go to the link and play with it. You can shake it up, and then zoom in real close to see a village. If only there were people walking around inside, that would complete it :)
