I recently went to my local guitar store and i was shocked to find an ibanez destroyer dt420 brand new. I tought they were discontinued since i can't find them anywhere new.

If they are discontinued then either its new old stock or its used and tagged wrong.

My SR500F was new old stock--you can still find those sometimes--if the price is right--hey!

IIRC, Ibanez hasn’t made a destroyer variant in the last few years. 5 years or so?

I’m guessing nos; if it’s a good price, I’d be all over it too.

that would be a risky move to bring those back into production.

Risky how? They didn't look exactly like Explorers for a long time.
oh wow, youre right... I hadn't seen the "jem" looking ones before...funny though, when I just did a google image search for Ibanez destroyer, I got about 100 pics of the explorer ones, and one of the superstrat kind. :)
odd that they would recycle the name that way.

Well, the guitar had a very different finish from the other DT420, the one i tryed had a black satin finish, hard tail, chrome hardware, and there wasn't any sign of the guitar being owned before. The employee told me it came 2 weeks ago straight from the factory.
