Well he DID take it off of a 1958 Les Pauk!!

$700. for a plastic ring.

Now where did I put that vintage solder I sucked from a 1959 Strat. Should be worth $500 or $600.

LMAO.
He is for real. He does deal with quite a few vintage Les Pauls, and knows what that stuff is worth.

Hard to believe, but if you're in the position to own a $50,000 - $300,000 guitar, and it's missing a part, you would pay it.
wow. that's a lot of money for nothing.
For your average player, $700. USD for a 45 year old piece of plastic that used to have some printing on it is just plain stupid.

I suppose it's a matter of supply and demand.
All I have to say is that some people out thera re crazy with their money haha.
I guess that if you're a serious collector and need an original ring to go on your all original (except for the broken or missing ring) '58 LP, you wouldn't bat an eye at $700.
Yeah but it is still not origional. It is not off the origional guitar.

You know like a 55 Vette having all the numbers match.

It would be worth only $225,000 not $275,000.

People with waayyyyy tooo much money.

Damn I wish that was one of my problems, sadly it isn't.
I read an interesting article a few months ago that said that collecting vintage instruments is all the rage these days among the young brandy and cigar crowd. Unlike gold and such, instruments hold a stable value.

As a player, I see that market as infested with snake oil salesman and con artists - but I'm just a guitar player...........
They often don't know WTF they are buying, and ruin the market and get burnt.

Ruined market= awww Sh*t

Burned Yupies= :food-smiley-004:

I've got a 55 Sunburst Les Paul with PAFs for only $235,000.

They didn't make one then, but if he wants to have one.

I've read that there are people out there making counterfit oldies really well.

Hey if there is a market, they'll find a way to fill it.
