Those KR tubes are some of the most expensive. Their 300BXLS go for about $2400 pair (includes gift boxes).
The great big tall T1610 is over $2000.00 each and can put out about 30 watts.
I had to repair a pair of these a few years ago. The amp uses one 1610 per channel

That's crazy. I was watching and thinking how can some tubes be so cheap with all this manual labour involved. Clearly the entry level 12AX7 is slightly different than above mentioned KR.
I recently overheard a radio show mention Macintosh amplifiers being 14 grand US and all of a sudden 2400 tubes don't seem out of line.

Somehow I don't think JJ 6L6's get that same amount of attention.................... or I'd still be running solid state on my budget.

do they last any longer than regular power tubes?

Actually they don't last any longer and I've seen bad ones right out of the box. But they sure look cool. You need deep pockets to run an amp like that.

And those amps use the ubiquitous KT88 and a slew of 12AX7 an 12AT7 tubes (Chinese too)
