Hey guys, I've been trying to sell my Laney 2x12 locally.

The cab is in pretty much mint condition, not tolex rips, etc.

It is loaded with 2 Celestion Vintage 30's which I think sound really good.

As far as I know Laney does not make this type of cabinet anymore, so this is why its difficult for me to find any hint of the value.

Some guy locally offered me $225 for it..Should I take this as an insult, or is this the best price I can hope to get??

Thanks.

Selling cabs is painful. You get to listen to tons of people tell you how little it's worth and here's a $100 bucks 'cause I'm a nice guy. You shouldn't sell it for less than what 2 Vintage 30's cost to buy -- which is about $225!

The last time I priced V30s they were from $150-$170 each.

That is an insult!!! I just went through the same thing trying to sell my mint VHT 2x12 for $500 which is $500 less than a new one. The truth about this situation is, these guys dont have a clue what it's really worth, they just dont want to pay what your asking. If I were you I'd just keep the cab until you get what you want for it. It never feels good when you practically have to give your gear away.

That's entirely possible. I just went on a quick Google search and Musician's Friend was quoting $119 USD so that's what I used in my post. The point remains the same: the cab is worth more than $225.

My answer to anyone who didn't want to pay $450 for my near perfect 2x12 Mesa cab was always: you can't afford to play a Mesa cab. Rude, but apt.

I agree with Metal#J#'s advice to hold out. They'll be someone who knows that they want a V30-loaded 2x12 and doesn't mind used and will see your Laney as a deal at the price you want (assuming you're holding out for a price that's not above retail on it).

I was happy to buy it for 500$.

I thought that was a pretty good deal at that price for a great cab. In this case, it looked basically new, so it's like I bought it half-priced. This cab sounds great, VHT just doesn't seem to be known in Canada...

Heres a picture with my GH50L,

Like you can see theres no tolex rips and its in very good overall condition. When I opened up the back of the cab, I screwed in one of the screws too tight on the input jack plastic cover thing, so one of those corners has broken off, but it still stays in fine, its not loose, and does not affect playability at all.

Just offer me anything (hopefully as long as its not as low as my first offer), because really, I'm still not sure what its worth. Thanks,

-Dave
