Hey Nova Scotia! White enough for ya?

Up to SEVENTY CM? Did the entire melted polar ice cap turn into snow and get dropped on you?

My back hurts from just imagining the shovelling. My kid lives across the street from SMU so I'll get the lowdown on local Halifax conditions later in the week.

But I'm guessing that not a lot of Diamond pedals will get made today. And not many will use the hammocks on the waterfront, either.

Stay safe and warm, folks.

It's pretty sloppy here right now.

My view from the plow truck:

That name again is Mr. Plow.
My mind went straight to a race thing. Anyway, 70cms kinda makes Barrie's storm seem like a dusting.

Just another day in the office.
Gagetown CFB (20 mins from Fredericton) got 79cm.

The snow bank in front of my house is taller than the stop sign.

20cm more coming Wed & Thurs. Lots of snow since mid January.

Damn, stay safe everyone!
Another 15-35 coming tonight for NS
I thought we had snow here in the Ottawa area. Stay safe guys and gals.
And I'm waiting for a guy to come and repair my snowblower. I just hope he can get up the driveway. By the time the sky has stopped falling, I'm gonna need that thing back.

The trouble with all that snow is figuring out where to put it. Even with a snowblower, when the shoulders beside the driveway or sidewalk are that high, you wonder if the angle of the vent and thrust of the machine are going to clear the shoulder or just make it collapse back into the driveway.

The snow banks here are 6 to 7 feet high in some places.

There was a picture on the CBC site yesterday of a guy standing in the middle of two of those with his snowblower. Of course, the distance between the snowblower and the snowbanks was all of about 3ft, so how the hell do you achieve the appropriate angle so that the snow goes over the top and not just up in the air and down again?

A bit of simple vindictive pleasure in the midst of all this crystallized nonsense:

Sometimes I have to chop the bank down with a shovel to try and get the snow to go further. If it's really bad I break out the mini excavator.

so, what happens? are most employers pretty cool there, or do they still have a business-as-usual--you figure-out-a way- to get-your ass-in for work attitude? I imagine schools are closed as buses wont be running so most parents will be stuck at home anyways.

Varies from job to job, my daycare was open so I had flexibility.....all schools were shut down though.
