Good evening,
I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I hardly play acoustic and know very little about them in general (more of a Telecaster guy-go figure). I was offered a 2018 Martin Custom Shop Dreadnought earlier today in exchange for an electric I’ve been looking to move.

I would appreciate some help in determining the value of the guitar, knowing that as a “one of a
kind” it’s a tricky question.

Additional pictures as well as the original listing can be found at the reverb link below:

Thank you for your time and consideration, I’ve got a few days before I would be meeting up to exchange to consider the trade.

A 12 fretter even! Nice.

@Always12AM

Ben, Have you one of these in your book?

To OP, a chance some info may be confirmed using pics of neck block ser#/model and certificate
I need to see the sticker on the inside of the body to know what actual model it is.

I can’t find anything in the price guide. But there were two listings on Reverb for $4,999. Not sure if that’s new or used or what or when they sold.

I believe it is a custom shop model and that it is B-E-A-uuuutiful. That being said, I wouldn’t be the right person to ask about the value.

I would consider emailing Martin or calling Folkway music as they seem to always have a lot of useful insight on acoustic guitars, also they could likely give you an idea of what they’d offer you on a trade it which is often as much or more than you’d get on here or kijiji.

Folkway and 12th fret both easy to approach

It is a DI8SN no longer a current model so available Custom Shop they are new in the US about $6300cdn Reverb Pricing. It is about $4500cdn current value. The 12 fret Dreads are not easy to sell, there is one in Toronto that has been on Reverb for 3 months.

Thank you both very much guys. Folkway was awesome to talk with and helped me out. They said it should be worth $5,000 or a little under depending on the exact condition.

That said I’m comfortable that I won’t be losing a ton on the trade and will likely proceed if other trader is still interested, knowing that I can always bring the guitar to Folkway (or maybe Lauzon) to help me sell it if I don’t end up getting more into acoustic.

I wish I could of been more help. I have never had an experience with Folkway where they didn’t offer balanced and fair feedback.

Also, they have a lot of first hand trade and sale experience with a LOT of really rare and beautiful instruments, notably acoustic guitars and Martin’s.

Glad you got to the bottom of your query.
