Can she control how swirly versus bubbly the finish turns out?

Has she considered trying a swirl finish?

She can definitely control the patterns to some extent, more so than with a swirl / dip process.

I like the swirl results. Who knows where this will take her? She’ll likely refine her methods and I hope to set her up a little shop so she can be more clinical in her approach.

I’m now applying the clear coats to the one she named Balrog. I really am loving this one.

It came from Forum member Silvertone along with a lovely neck (headstock shape looks like USAGC).

The body is swamp ash, and it was machined for a two point trem. The body wasn’t quite fully machined so we spent a fair bit of time shaping the arm carve and a few other sections, but what a gorgeous piece of wood it turned out to be. I almost regretted having it painted.

Almost.

This is the first clear coat.

Looks really sharp. Except for the wiring.
Just looks a little sloppy to me. IMO
Spend a bit of time to twist them and lay them out nicely?
or colour out that bit of the PG.
