Hey guys, a buddy of mine has a Made in USA Charvel Charvette in flourescent orange. Mint condition and it looks like it has active pickups . (no visible poles)

Any idea as to it's value today?

Bty it was played for about a year and then put in its OHSC under the bed

although the neck plates on those have a Ft. Worth, Texas location listed that was just the headquarters of the parent company. Charvette were a lower priced line of Charvel guitars that were made in Korea.

Pretty sure it is a MIJ guitar, 6 digit serial and it has TM after the Charvette logo not R

OK did a bit of digging and it appears to be a 91 MIJ model 270 HSS configuration, 1 volume 1 switch

I bought a Model 7 Charvel with the toothpaste logo a few years ago for $350 without a case.

Are you sure those Charvettes are MIJ? I know the Charvels were around that time.

The Charvette 170 and 270's were made in Japan, all others were made in Korea.

I've read it can be poplar alder or basswood and yes, even plywood. This one has a single coil sized humbucker in the middle position. It was 8 or 900 when bought new, how is that entry level? For plywood? Wow... He's going to let me borrow it for a bit so I can get a good look

Not aware of Charvette's MIJ either. Bottom of the line entry level guitar I do know. $150 tops.

I have a legit MIJ Ibanez that I would be lucky to get $300. That Charvette is really not worth $150 but I was being generous. As I recall they were made in Indonesia. Value Village might take it depending on the time of year.

I think k you need to learn how to read. All 170 and 270 models were made in Japan in 1991 and 1992. Then they went to Korea or China or whatever.

Fwiw, the mij charvettes are pretty decent, as are most mij guitars from that era.

I would give it 300-350 if it has a case,and because its made in Japan, dont listen to that distortion guy, he has had too much kool-aid .

It is an entry level guitar that has entry level electronics and wood.......irregardless of where it is made. $250 tops.
