L&m price matches so I would have just done that.
No they would not (I asked for a lower price)... that was their bottom price and it was suggested I better buy soon since there's only one left. And L&M wanted another $26.50 to cover shipping insurance (free shipping, but not free insurance). West Coast Guitars offer free FedEx shipping... and not advertising any particular price (it wasn't even in stock), and so there's nothing for L&M to match. I gave West Coast L&M's price and I was expecting $100 bucks off or something, and so I was floored at the price provided.

They do, you have to show them the better price - it just cant be a sale price. I've done this a few times. Sounds like the price match was the other company anyway. Shopping around gets results.
First, there was no price to show them and it was not a price match... it came under by $400 ($500 with taxes) and do you think L&M would forgo the insurance?

L&M doesn’t pay insurance to the courier, they have a larger policy that covers items in transit. And they will price match if you can prove you can get it cheaper somewhere else. Also if it’s a new item they’re not supposed to charge transfer fees to the customer. Talk to the manager there, whoever you spoke to before is full of shit.

Not sure what you're looking at. I already had the guitar in the 'cart' and it asked if I wanted insurance ($26.50) on the item when it ships... in the event of loss or damage. They were not including it in the free shipping (never did on a few other things I purchased). And the ONLY Majesty they had in the color I wanted was via online ordering only... they would not order one in and could not reduce the price as a result. But enough explaining, since there are some L&M fans on here (I bought from them in the past, nothing against them) and I'm quite happy with a big chunk of change taken off the price while supporting a sole owner of a small guitar shop.

ordering online is why you got charged shipping if you call the store and have it transferred or do a special order (with a non refundable deposit) they will price match and you will not be charged shipping. But anyway, to each their own. Enjoy the new guitar.

As per my explanation... because it was ONLINE, L&M would not reduce the price. Also, because I never had an official amount, there was nothing to price match. Regardless, I provided a company that offered a very good price and thought I would share it. Have a great day.

Yeah the Long & McQuade price guarantee is a bunch of bull. I’ve tried to have them match prices from StewMac, Axe Music (when they were around), and a couple other places. They were basically “¯\_(ツ)_/¯ buy it from them then.”

Not long ago I bought a Schecter Hellraiser Hybrid (will be finishing up a review within the week) and bought it from LA Music (southern Ontario)... I got it at a decent price because of a carryover code the guy there gave me for 10% off or something like that. There's a local guitar shop that is a Schecter seller... I wanted to buy locally and support him and he wouldn't even come down to the LA Music's base price, let alone the 10% extra off. But he did say, "when you need us, we're here" (suggesting if the guitar buggers up, they will take care of it... for a fee after the 1 year warranty, of course).

FYI... I purchased a Majesty (Music Man) from West Coast Guitars Vancouver. The price was a $500 difference compared to a well known national store.

Not sure who has purchased from West Coast Guitars, but they guarantee the Best Price in the Universe. So far, I'm impressed.
Regardless of the price match stuff: Congrats on your guitar. I am Jonesing for a JP6.
