The story was that he was being thrown out because he assaulted an employee. Grabbing and smashing the guitar on the way out was just a “fuck you” toddler moment.

If it IS true that it was an assault, then going hands on may be legally permitted.

I think if he was deliberately trying to hurt the idiot, he could have done a better job. People are unpredictable. I see an employee reacting to a changing situation while escorting a problem person from the premises. Without the benefit of seeing how it all started, I can't say what's reasonable or not.

Used reasonable force to get him out of the store. He didnt even punch the guy.
