Gretsch Guitars - G6131T-MY Malcolm Young Signature Jet, Ebony Fingerboard - Natural

Anybody handle one of these? Is the quality the same with a $600 dollar Gretsch and a big price increase due the name associated with this guitar or are these primo guitars?

Big Malcolm fan - always will be. Looking for input prior to ordering one of these as you wont see this on the rack at a store.

I've never handled that model, but the $600 Gretschs are nowhere close to the quality of that, or any other pro series Gretsch.

That would be a killer guitar . I have a George Harrison edition Duo Jet and it’s quality is amazing and steps above my other reissue gretch’s so I’m thinking this would be along the same lines .

There is one on its way to L&M in Edmonton as I type. I’m hoping it arrives this week. When it does I’ll let you know how it looks/feels/sounds. I have always been fascinated by the story of Malcolm’s original guitar and this one just made sense to me.

Looking forward to your input! The Beast is so iconic. That CS model looks amazing but In no way can I pay 10+ G on a guitar.

The MIK Electromatics are very good guitars. The MIJ Pro Series guitars are fantastic guitars. My only gripe is they make them with quite thin necks for my taste. I bet that MY sig will be excellent

Also, remember that Mal played a White Falcon for Back in Black (or at least for the album tour), some of the most iconic AC/DC tones in their collection.

I'm all about Let There Be Rock. I think he was lighter strings around that era as well.

I played one of the "shiny new" looking Korean ones through a Masrshall a while ago. I played the opening riff of "Let's Get it Up," and the tone was bang on to my ears. If it's custom-shop made, then it will likely be a different animal.

You sound like a guy that's never owned a single pickup guitar. There's magic in them that more pickups just can't reach.
