I stumbled across a pretty cool website that details what is going on within the circuit of some common pedals such as the rat, big muff and fuzz face. For anyone who has been interested in how they work this is a great resource. The website is

That’s good stuff. I like the way the circuits are broken down.

I was looking at that Pedal-Pi before, and I think there is another similar shield. I want to fool around with the effects in the program ffmpeg and I think the Pedal-Pi may be the best way to use it with a guitar.

My inclination would be to use the Pi A/D inputs for reading controls, and then set digital pot chips (I have a few 100k digital pot chips) for an otherwise analog circuit. I probably have all the technology I need (recently picked up a Pi 3 to supplement the Pi 2 I have). What I don't have enough of is the time and patience to dedicate myself to learning Python.

What's a pedal pedal? Is this something you manually power by pedalling?

It's great to see others do typos; I don't feel so left out when I do them.
