I haven't been playing my LP lately but had it out for the last gig and noticed that there was fair hum that disappeared when I touched the strings with my hands. Is there a ground wire attached to the bridge (or tailpiece)? Would that be my issue? Any ideas how I check for this?

I think you are describing what the bridge ground does.

Yes, that means the strings (via the bridge) are not grounded, but the problem is not necessarily the bridge ground wire (e.g. could be ground wire on the jack).

If it wasn't noticeable in the past, it could have been the venue's wiring. Try it at home and see if it's as noticeable.
