I just saw this on the Long & McQuade website. You do have to try out a pedal first. It's part of their Yorkville month promotion.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2018 - FREE STRINGS
Visit any store, try out any Ernie Ball effect pedal, and receive a free set of Slinky guitar strings. One set of strings per customer. While quantities last.

That's an interesting promotion, but if I have to wait in line 30 minutes (and listen to 30 minutes of other people wanking in a crowded store) to plug into a pedal, that's too much to pay to save 6 or 7 bucks.

I prefer my music stores empty and relatively quiet - like at 10:05 this morning (90 minutes from now).

I understand. Going to a music store on a Saturday can be hard on the ears. :)
