Probably someone used the wrong cleaner on it and it ate the paint. If so the only fix will be to repaint it...

You can always recover it in the original material, I have some if you need it.

Also, purple is good.

I'd keep the face plate as is. He just put too much Mojo on his rag last time he cleaned it.

As for new covering, go bold. You can use any upholstering cloth and varnish it, à la tweed. I've seen some pretty wild amps done in that fashion. One with flowers, I'll try to find some images.

EDIT: most images from the post being on Photobucket, disappeared, but this one.

I have the sound track to that movie......on vinyl of course B#(*
It was a huge hit....in Winnipeg, of all places, where I grew up. I had the soundtrack when it was new, and can still sing along with all of it. Found the movie DVD in a bargain bin a couple years ago, and watched it again recently. Love it, and have done lots of reading and watched the documentary about the making of it, and many interviews with the stars, producers, and director (Brian De Palma, who of course went on to many bigger and better things). I can't see any tuck n roll upholstery without thinking of that song.

Please pardon the interruption.
