Now that is a pretty cool idea! Does anyone know who makes this bass? Has a really nice sound and beautiful quilted top. Interesting idea.

Thats pretty cool!!

Wonder what the mechanics are like to make it happen. Thinking a graduated rod with ramps. The frets would be using a spring to push them back down into the depresion on the rod.

Must be a piece of art to make it work that smooth!!

Nice job.

Seems very cool to me but I wonder how well the mechanics for the frets would hold under heavy use. That would be the real test. It would be nice to have the same bass for those rare tunes when a fretless would be the better choice.

Looks great, but the price is on the high side.... for one of those, you can buy 2 high quality basses (one freetted and one fretless of course...)

I guess his selling point is that you don't have to switch basses.... but in 15 years of bass playing, I never run in a song that needed to switch from fretted to fretless (or backward) in the middle of a song....

We play some CCM stuff that sounds like a fretless has been overdubbed into the bridge but I just stick to a single bass and play it my way instead. Of course I do want to get a fretless but not at the price, at least not to start.
