Looking for a good, padded gigbag for my Firebird.
Let me know if you have one available.

is that an explorer case?I know you're probably hoping for a used one but I just happened to come across this one from Amazon made by Gator.

Yeah, I'd be ok with that. I guess good, padded bass cases are easier to find. You’re probably better off with a bass gig bag instead of one designed for a V or Explorer. It’s not so much the body size on the Firebird, but the length. A bass one will have the extra length and slightly more room for the body. The other ones will be too loose and the body will slide around.
As the owner of 3 Firebirds, 2 Flying Vs, and an Explorer…I guess good, padded bass cases are easier to find.
Any input on a specific padded bass gigbag you like? I've seen those Mono cases around but man they seem pretty pricey. As the owner of 3 Firebirds, 2 Flying Vs, and an Explorer…
Hell yeah!
I’d just go to the store and see what looks good. If you can’t bring the guitar, bring measurements. Or see if they have a Firebird in the store to test it with.Any input on a specific padded bass gigbag you like? I've seen those Mono cases around but man they seem pretty pricey.
Yeah that one looks fantastic. Definitely a bit too expensive for me right now though. I'll see if I can find a used one.I’d just go to the store and see what looks good. If you can’t bring the guitar, bring measurements. Or see if they have a Firebird in the store to test it with.
For the Mono stuff, I just sold a guitar that came with a Mono bag. I don’t get the hype. Are they better than most gig bags? For sure. Are they worth over $300? To me, fuck no. If I’m going to a gig and putting all my gear in the back of the van, it’s still a gig bag and has to be treated as such. You can’t pile it in like you could with a case.
For me, these are the ultimate solution and I have different shaped ones for a bunch of my guitars…

It’s the exact same rigid foam guts as this, but wrapped in a gig bag instead of hard plastic.

Still not cheap but it’s as good as a hard shell case but weighs next to nothing. It also has shoulder straps and you can wear it like a backpack leaving your hands free for amp and pedalboard.
When I pack the van, these get piled in there among the amps, PA speakers, drums, etc.
ZERO worries.
If cost is a concern, just get a nice, padded bass bag.
When I bought my first Les Paul one (it was actually a Gator brand one but identical to the SKB) it was $89. My second one was a bit more but not much. When I bought my Firebird/Explorer one, I think they were around $150. Not sure why they’re so damn expensive now.Yeah that one looks fantastic. Definitely a bit too expensive for me right now though. I'll see if I can find a used one.
