There's been some chatter about Fender moving away from rosewood boards online for a while, and it looks like there might be some truth in that.
What Is Pau Ferro?
What Is Pau Ferro?
Me too.As funny as it is, I always thought pau ferro was one of those super fancy woods that was reserved for super fancy customs, kinda in the same vein as blood wood or zebra wood etc.
It's just humorous to me that it will be featured on some average strats and teles, after all of these years of thinking it was so luxurious.
I think the exotic name makes it seem fancier than it is. It threw me too.As funny as it is, I always thought pau ferro was one of those super fancy woods that was reserved for super fancy customs, kinda in the same vein as blood wood or zebra wood etc.

I have hear of other places substituting it for instruments that would traditionally be made of Brazilian rosewood so I would say you are right sir.Pau Ferro is probably my favorite fretboard material.
Probably the closest thing to Brazilian rosewood that is still attainable today.
