Hi Folks
As some of you may know, I just got a nice Fender Deluxe Vintage modified amp...
This amp has a clean AND a drive channel...
Because of the stuff I play, I have already noticed that I don't click on the drive channel at all..
So .... my question is...
Is it possible / reasonably easy to convert the drive channel to a nice simple Volume/treble/mid/bass channel?
I know that if I could get that done, I would use the channel more often.

opinions please.

I don't think it would be the most easy thing to do as I'm assuming the amp is built on a PCB with its DSP and effects and whatnot. I don't think bypassing the DSP and bells and whistles is an option but you could theoretically tinker with coupling and bypass cap values and and tone stack values or cathode resistors

You should have bought a Deluxe Reverb :)
hmmmmmm....a Deluxe reverb....let me think now...

I paid 1/3 the price for the VM
40 watts (6L6 's)
Switchable clean/drive (not used much) channels
reverb
delay
chorus ....all one simple button away and the only effects I ever use.
I honestly don't know if I would trade my Deluxe VM for a Deluxe reverb straight up right now.
Certainly suits my needs at the moment.

Ok.
Like cboutilier mentioned, the lowest setting you can use on the gain will be closest to the original blackface sound (volume control at max.).
