Hey hey,

i know practicing guitar is essential to becoming better..

and there are probably a ton of exercises you can do..

but what do most people recommend for crucial exercises to do everyday whether it takes you 15mins or 3 hours..

scales?
chromatics?

my pinky is weak and i have a tough time using it and i want to be able to move around the fret board faster..

I third it... great DVD, easily one of the best instructionals I've watched. Definetly a must-have. Another suggestion is anything that involves Paul Gilbert. Man is a genius and great at explaining what he's doing.

But all that aside, my 'exercises' come from passages I want to learn. What's the point of practicing something you're never going to use? There isn't one... unless you haven't developed finger independence yet.
