Hi, heres the situation I have decided that I am going to purchase a ESP MH-400 because after I took for a test drive I fell in love with it, The only problem is im not sure if my local music store (meanaxmusic) is selling it for a fare price. It is $950 ($1082.99 after tax) now I have seen simular prices everywhere online but im still not sure if this right because it has a licensed floyd rose and not a original.

Too bad there isnt a MusciansFriend.com warehouse in Canada...their price works out to about $700 CAD with free shipping. We gotta eat customs fees though.

Oh my damn... that is A LOT less. I clicked the "If you find a lower price, please click here!" and sent them that link... that's see if they actually stick to the 'guarantee'.

"Please allow 48 hours for one of our staff members to research your request and contact you!"

We shall see...

I got my ESP ltd MH400nt for 850 with taxs. I ordered it from http://www.lamusic.ca . Free shipping, good service. Try and show your local store the competetive prices their going for and they may reduce. Or you could get them to throw stuff in for free. Maybe a free case, some extra strings, maybe a even a strap or something.. patch chords ?

If they don't reduce and don't throw much stuff in to match the difference, order it online, however you won't be able to try before you buy and guitars usually always differ from one another.

ok one last thing is the guy in meanaxmusic told me that the licensed floyd rose is about 300 dollars but that seemed a little fishy to me because the MH-400NT is the same guitar (I think) without the licensed floyd rose and it is only 100 dollars cheaper.

I'd just get it from axemusic.ca. Free shipping on orders over $199 (it states), paying less taxes (6%), so the total is about $825. It also has the licensed Floyd Rose.

Plus, you get a "FREE! ESP Tour Jacket - $60 Value - With this purchase! TO QUALIFY, you must indicate your correct size (M. L. XL, XXL) in the "Comments" section of the online order form. (Step 4 of the checkout) Limited time offer, while supplies last. No rain checks, no substitutions. "

There's nothing wrong with a good licensed Floyd. And on a guitar that runs from $780-$950 it's definetly not going to be terrble, $1000+ Dean guitars all have licensed Floyd trems as well.

They're designed the exact same as an OFR, just different materials (hence the 'licensed' part)... so on lower end guitars, yes you can expect them to be shit and probably break in a few years. On medium-higher end guitars they should be absoutely fine.

$300 for a licensed Floyd though... yeah, that's bullshit. $100-$150 tops... you can usually get decent ones for like $70.

I agree there. You can get an original FR for $170-190 US.

The dealings I've had with axemusic.com have been good. I don't know about buying a guitar without playing it first, but the LTD 400 (and higher) series have a solid rep.

Buy the one you played and fell in love with - You should be able to wheel and deal $50 off a $1000.00 guitar without too much trouble.

There are different qualities of licenced floyds, I would expect that ESP would not be putting crap on their guitars but I could be wrong. The cheaper ones are made of soft metal (I know as I have ordered guitars with some crappy ones).

It's really not that hard to take something like a floyd rose and make coppies of it from the cad file or just duplicating an original if you have the recources to do so. I believe that the reason we see all of these licensed floyds is because the pattent has run out and they are just paying to put the name on it.

A licenced floyd will run you between $19 and $85 - in my experience the ones that are over $60.00 are pretty much just as good as anything made by the original manufacturer, while the $19 ones are not worth the postage.
