I have been having problems with getting consecutive hrs of sleep. I have been waking up between 4:30 -5 am every morning for a couple of weeks and I am very lucky if I fall back asleep! This causing all sorts the fallout! I have been walking around in a zombie like state! I am trying to get out if my night owl regime by going to bed no later then 1.

Apparently, according to what I am reading this syndrome is caused by either anxiety or depression but I am neither. Maybe at a deeper subconscious level there is something happening that I am not aware of.

I have to go to work feeling like absolute shit!

Time to see the doctor!

Does anyone else suffer from this syndrome?

My sleep habits for my first year of retirement were terrible, but it has settled down now and I am sleeping well again. It was a year though.

A doctor will have only one solution: pills.

Try to find a sensible naturopath, maybe, in addition to the usual MD.

The internet is a mixed bag of complete nonsense and exact remedy. Take your chances there as well.

Best wishes with it. It's a b.....

Study self hypnosis for the purpose of sleep-aid. Works well. Some even have audio tracks to assist with the beginning of your trance.

I thought it was a joke until
I did the birthing course 2008. I'm a believer in this for the right purposes.
Hypnosis is real shit. I had it done for medical reasons about 15 years ago.

I wake up around the same time every night, but it is my bladder doing its best impersonation of an alarm clock that causes it.
Ahh!! the early morning ringing of the mens room, wait until that alarm wakes you up twice a night, talk about sleep interruptus, then you get a urinary tract infection, every hour on the hour that damn alarm wakes you up, sweet dreams are long forgotten until the Drs. prescription does it's magic thing. Aren't I a cheerful little bugger, been there done that. :)

For the waker upper caused by other things the doctors always tell me the same thing, lots of exercise or alternately sexerecise they both work.

I've been waking up at 4:30 am lately, which kinda chaffs my bag cause the alarm is set for 5:00 am and I could really use that extra 1/2 hour sleep. Hopefully, I get over what ever is causing it......and soon.

It sometimes does.

And that most often happens on Friday nights when I have to get up at 6:45 Saturday mornings to teach at 9am. Thankfully, that ends this week and I won't likely face another Saturday morning class until next summer.

Interesting...after my last contract ended, I decided to take the summer off. I expected to be sleeping like a baby with this zero stress lifestyle but its been the opposite.

Yeah, I would prefer to listen to a medical professional than someone prescribing herbs and other BS.
Please note Colchar that I said in ADDITION to an MD. Please note JDTO that I said SENSIBLE naturopath. Actually, who carescwhat you note. LOLA if you check this out be circumspect about doctors, naturos, and the internet. Thats all.

We have a woman in the village who is almost dead because of "professional" advice. They make mistakes just like mechanics and carpenters. It was one of those crazy, quack naturopaths that told her she had lyme disease. And, oh yeah, no goofy herbs or other BS was prescribed. Nor was the wallet made lighter.

Putting all your faith in EITHER camp is the only truly stupid thing to do.

Its funny that when I was a kid with tonsilitis, EVERY PATIENT in the hospital was brought camomile tea, whether you drank it or not. "It will help you sleep." I never drank it, but they brought it every night. Doctors orders. Good thing big pharm came along and supported my position that it was just a crazy BS herb.

Leaving aside the fact that Lyme Disease is very rarely fatal, one isolated incident does not validate the practice of homeopathy as homeopaths have repeatedly failed to produce any convincing evidence that homeopathy works for anything. It is quackery that is about as medically sound as Gwyneth Paltrow's vaginal eggs.

Not doing enough during the day to make yourself tired? I know I slept like crap during grad school because I could literally go weeks without doing a damned thing.

Sorry. I should have known better than to doubt your wisdom. Again, please accept my apologies for speaking in ignorance.
