I believe I may still have a single-ended OT that was used briefly in a Champ as well. Can I assume you're looking at an initial build then Mark? Let me see what I can dig up for you and we could start from there. If you cover shipping, whatever I have on hand would be au gratin.

I am tired of being completely ignorant to the mystery of the "tube amplification" world. In the past week I have been led down a path there is no coming back from. Thanks to some wonderful folks here, I have been directed to some very extensive information that I feel has placed me in a position to at the very least attempt to make this simplistic style.

If you asked me last week how a vacuum tube works I think the best explanation I could give is "by glowing". Now I understand the science!!

I am fabricating a chassis, unless one shows up somehow and the cab and can assure you, after looking at the itsy bitsy space allotted by the original Fender design, I can assure you, I have no interest in going down that road. So suggestion duly noted!!

Otherwise just get an output transformer that matches the plate impedance of your output tube and impedance of your speaker. And wattage you will be running at.

There are 11 Ham clubs on Vancouver island... one in Nanaimo. They probably run swap meets at different times of the year, Nanaimo's is next month...a good source of tube related components and sometimes a great deal.

Believe it or not, I once saw a couple of old Heathkit or Knight-looking amplifiers at the Salvation Army in Ottawa. This was around '93-98. Just before tube stuff started taking value. The eighties was the best time to find tube equipment deals because everyone was hooked onto Japanese stuff. Now it seems the post-pademo-lypse skyrocketed the prices of even cheap plywood guitars through the roof, making Japanese stuff sought after like gold. A Heathkit will fetch top dollar, in any condition.

Yay world.

Lucky for me I have no idea what the stuff use to cost to be mad about what it costs now.

I figure for a boutique, antiquated technology that is mostly in production for a niche market pricing seems fair to me.

I'm sure if I had bought tubes for 2 dollars 30 years ago I would feel a lot different but as it stands, it makes sense in my mind.
