Don Williams has passed away. He has always been my dad's favourite country artist. My dad never collected records when he was younger, so he had only a two or three records on hand at a time, given that he was always a sheet music man. But his longest possession in that collection of two records was a Don Williams record. The other was a Muppets Show Album No. 2.

If memory serves, Don Williams was one of the small handful of performers that Johnny Carson used to wax enthusiastically about (along with k.d. lang). It was always a special occasion for him when Williams appeared on The Tonight Show. And, given just how many folks who had been on that same stage, I think that's pretty high praise.

He was one of my favourites. It was sad that he suffered from arthritis in the last number of years and could only play guitar for short periods because of the pain.
