Meet Layla, a rescue from ARF Ontario. We are technically her foster parents until she gets a clean bill of health, and then we pay up and she's entirely ours. She was found in the woods on a Reserve with one of her puppies, and a new litter. She's already been spayed, so we don't expect any surprises.

Pretty sure she's part husky, not sure what else is mixed in there.

Layla is already house trained and has done pretty well at settling in. We're guessing she was abandoned after getting pregnant the first time, since she doesn't make a mess but that's all she knows. Part of ARF's adoption program is training with a specific trainer and we're organizing that.

It's definitely a learning experience!

Show of hands, who thought this thread title was about some band staying over? :p

You rock Budda! You have given this beautiful creature a new lease on life!

I love her name, Layla!

She looks part Husky to me as well! Look at the markings on her!

I am so happy for her and your family!

Awesome!

My beloved Lucy cat was a stray 7 years ago. We put up posters in the neighbourhood and contacted local vets and the city to find its owner. No luck, so she's been our house cat after her vet visit. Perhaps that was good luck.

Layla looks like she will be a wonderful companion and forever grateful.

Cheers to you for your compassion to an animal in need.

What a beautiful looking dog there, Budda! You and your wife should have a very loyal pet there. They just want to be loved and secure and will appreciate what you have given her.

BTW, I didn't think about a band; I just thought you were jumping the gun by a few months.:)

Layla you got me on my knees Layla, I'm begging please Layla won't you ease my worried mind.
First thing I thought of when I saw the name and the rescue story, nice dog, nice song.
I stole a few lines from old Eric. I hope he doesn't mind to much.

I expect most musicians to immediately think of our pal Clapton haha. Does anyone else get a Husky/Shepherd vibe as far as heritage goes? Someone suggested that one last night.

I agree with the Husky Shep heritage. I'll ask the wifey what she thinks tonight. She's studied companion animal genetics.

Congrats on the new friend, and kudos for rescuing one.
