American blues guitarist/singer Deborah Coleman passed away recently, a victim of pneumonia. She was 62. I met Deborah years ago at one of her gigs in New York City at a club called Manny's Car Wash that's now defunct. She was a very talented player and singer, and a very sweet lady. Although she was a blues player, one of her biggest influences was Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad. RIP.

I saw the obit in the latest issue of Vintage Guitar when it arrived on Friday. I was not familiar with her music, but I do know that I had been seeing her name as worthy of respect for many years.

RIP
My wife and I saw her first at Ottawa Bluesfest(when it still was a Bluesfest),back around '97
She and her bass player came wandering through the park prior to her set and stopped and chatted with us and a bunch of folks around us.
She seemed really happy to be there, told us to enjoy ourselves then went up and tore up a great set .
We left big fans.
