I always thought the best advertiser wins when it comes to string quality...
but I did purchase a set of the new D'addario NYXL strings (10-46) for my tele in early May. The guitar gets played daily and gigged a couple times a month. I usually replace strings every 6 weeks on that guitar. These ones are still on the guitar, quite impressed with them so far.

For bass, they are hit and miss. Out of 4-5 different basses I tried them on, only 1 sounded good, and I had a set with a quite dead E string. One the bass they sounded good, they sounded REALLY good, bite without harsh, nice even full range, and tons of growl. But I won't buy them again.

I'll have to try those. I've been pretty happy with D'Addario strings. Just goes to show that you don't need to spring for the boutique strings to get good tone and longevity

have had them on more than twice as long as the regular version so they actually cost me less in the long run.

Switched to NYXLs on two of three guitars now. I.really do like them. Have some slinky's on the third and don't like them as much.
