...there are a lot of great noiseless pickups available, including the kinman traditional mark IIs, which are nothing short of astounding, but they all sacrifice a little of the single coil "mojo". i wonder if this is a way a to preserve it.
Noiseless pickups can be great (big Evans PU fan here: 3 of my axes deep) but there's nothing like a true single coil. Both noiseless PU's and RWRP pickups change the magnetic influence on the strings...granted to a very subtle degree but getting a sound from a guitar string to a blazing amp involves tremendous magnification so each tiny variable can make a difference. The Suhr system retains everything you may like (or dislike) about your current PU's which for many people makes the exercise entirely worthwhile.
...there's a "review" at http://thegearpage.net/board/index.php from a guy who auditioned a suhr guitar with a factory installation of the system, with a switch to a/b the pickups with and without the system engaged. he reports there is absolutely zero effect on the original single coil tone and magic.
