Col. Bruce Hampton, ‘Godfather’ of Jamband Scene, Dies After Collapsing on Stage

Kind of the John Mayall of jam bands. It seems like everybody passed through one or more of his bands at some point.

There was an hour long segment on the Col. at "JamOn" on SiruisXM after he died. He certainly was a huge influence on the Jam Band scene.

I'm sorry to hear this. Love the ARU albums - will give "The Calling" a listen.

Bizarre way for a man to go, but I guess it pretty much suited him. Someone on another forum who was at the show mentioned, "it was like he was attending his own memorial service". Always loved ARU and his solo stuff. I forgot he was in Zappa's band back in the early years.

I couldn't bring myself to watch the video. Rest in peace Colonel Bruce.
