My New Yorker is getting pretty close to just the way I want it. Two small issues remain:
the tone pot's scratchy at one end and one tuner seems to have dried out or something and feels underlubed.

1) how do I approach cleaning and lubing the tone pot?
2) how to I approach re-lubing the tuner?

I tried to get info about these tuners before, as in how to open them, and got basically nowhere. I think you need a special tool or something to get them back on as well. I have a set I wanted to open, stick in the sonic cleaner, re-grease and seal up again. Didn't get far.

Most I can think of is take the screw off for the button (part you tune with) slide it and the washer/ring off, and maybe warm up some vaseline or superlube in a blunt end syringe and shoot some inside? Saw StewMac vid once where they used heated up vaseline to make it squirt out more easily and used a syringe on the vintage Kluson styles.

Can get the key off and access the shaft? I used some plastic tubing before. I got lucky and found a piece of hard-ish pvc tubing that was exactly the right size. I sliced off a piece and it worked perfectly.
