Did you know that in the 20s, 30s and 40s Calgary had an annual concert of local composers? Or that the first Canadian to win a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music wasn't from Toronto or Montreal, but from Calgary? Or that in 1947 a full oratorio written by a Calgarian was performed in Calgary?

On Friday, August 3rd there will be a presentation on many of the early classical musicians in Calgary. The talk will be completely free. It starts shorts after 12 noon and runs until almost 1, and it's right downtown, in Central United Church. Info on this an other Historic Calgary Week events is online at http://www.chinookcountry.org/hcw2007.html
