Got a Japanese CS-3 in a pedal trade a few months back.
Footswitch OK, but after 30min of use it was making non musical sounds so I unplugged it and put it in the 'box of misfit pedals'
I have a stock current edition CS-3 on my board now. It sounds 'ok' but stuff like the JHS hi-fi mod sounds pretty sweet.

So what do you think? Worth sending the old CS-3 for an upgrade?

Bonus question..Who do I send it to?

What exactly would be "improved"? The CS-3 uses about as high-end a gain cell as can be purchased these days, and includes pretty well all the features one would need. I have about 8 different compressors (though not a CS-3), and I think the CS-3 has prety well all the features a guitar player would need from a compressor stompbox. If one needs more, then what you have in mind is something really more suited to processing a broader array of instruments than a guitar.
