Compared to traditional folk music with its references to murder, poverty, lust, adultery, idolatry, rape, drunkeness, greed, some other styles pale. It has more to do with how such things are referenced, whether they're glorified or not, whether they're expressed with regret or not, and whether it's narrative in first or third person, etc.

Peace, Mooh.

I dont think it matters how its refrenced or if they agree or whatnot. People should be free to sing whatever they want, even if its offensive to someone else...........

And if you listen very carefully, you might even hear a reference or two in old big band music: A subtle drug reference

Accept2...Please don't think that I was implying that people shouldn't be free to sing what they want or whether I/we/society/whomever agrees, I was simply intending to say that there are distinctly different ways of expressing violence/emotion/threats in lyric and music.

For what it's worth, I don't feel threatened by any of it.

Peace, Mooh.

At last Proof Country Music is a threat!
I could have told you that years ago!

I mean look at me--all my problems stem from the country music my parents listened to.
