Hello, kind folks of GC.

I hope I'm not breaching/violating any rules here, but I would just like to ask for your honest opinion.

I may be moving soon, not sure where, for school or work.

I honestly do not play much, if at all, anymore.

I've got a bunch of guitars, amps, pedals, and other gear that I'd love to liquidate, but it seems that the market has been really soft for the past year or so now.

What would be my options in moving gear? I really don't want to ship as it makes me anxious in sending out high dollar items.

I tried Kijiji, but no one's biting. Selling to a store seems the most convenient, but they will probably offer me half of what the item is worth.

Posting here would be ok, but it seems most people want you to ship the item.

I think that your local kijiji is the best way to go. If you don't want to ship, just say so in the ad.
If you tried that and no one is biting, you may want to revisit your asking prices.
I know its a tough pill to swallow, but its tough selling these days as you found out. Something has to give if you really really want to sell.

For the most convenient way to sell , take your best stuff to a reputable consignment seller and take the fee hit.
If you are anywhere close to Folkway Music in Waterloo, they are very very good in moving stuff. Especially if its top end.

thats all I got to offer.

If no one is biting on Kijiji you price is likely not competitive. As you say, the market is soft and in order to sell you must be at the point where people will buy.

Shipping is a bit of a hassle, but if you pack the item well ,fully insure it, and only sell to long time members here you will be fine. Unless you live in a major city, selling everything locally will be unlikely.

At the very least, put up a for sale ad here in the appropriate forum and list all your prices OBO. Unlike kijiji, this place isn't crawling with tire kickers and 'flippers.' Yes, the market is a bit soft right now, but if your asking price is within reason and you are a bit flexible you should be able to move some stuff.

Remember you will pay to move it to your new town/residence, so even if you sell for a bit less you may ultimately come out ahead. I did a long distance move a few years ago and had to make some hard "keep or sell decisions." Honestly, for the most part, I cannot even remember most of the gear I had/sold at that time so it made no sense to move it across the country.

Kijiji is good but like others have said your price is too high. Everything will sell at the right price unless it is junk and then it should be at the curb.
Here in NL high end is pretty stagnant. Outside of Fender/Gibson/Marshall things can remain unsold at 25% of retail.

Lots of quality folks here....Try unloading here first!!!
No doubt!

What are you selling anyways, hehe...

Currently, I have 1 Reverb 1Delay 1 Phaser and realistically these items are on the low pricing spectrum as the most expensive item is $50.....
I stand firm on the "Quality" statement.....This is absolutely best guitar/gear forum ....

Interesting, stagnant market Nfld, when I was chatting with Craig of "Vineham Pickups" he mentioned some gear selling for half decent prices, now we were talking about Traynor amps in particular perhaps those sell well!

btw...Vineham pickups are fantastic!!!
