Anyone have a nocaster U profile tele I could borrow?

Looking to make a neck profile similar to the 1" U "nocaster profile, but we need something to go by. Anyone in the GTA have a guitar or neck we can borrow? Thanks!

Why do you need a neck to go by? Make it a U and make it 1". I'm having Hansen guitars make mine with exactly those specs. I have my masterbuilt Nocaster here in Brantford if you want to come down and take pics and measure. Its a U and the thickness according to the build sheet are .990 at the first and .990 at the 12th. Slightly under an inch and about the most perfect feeling neck I've ever played.

That actually sounds like it'd be a better fit, but I may end up going slimmer. I'm planning a build with @Ayr Guitars and we're just wanting to see if his tooling can do that profile or if I'm better off ordering a Warmoth. It's still in the discussion phase. I would hazard a guess that it's the U profile in question. Big ole necks aren't a very common thing these days I bet.

Thanks for your offer! I will try and schedule something with you.

Give it a couple weeks and I should also have my Hansen custom neck here.

I am happy to wait to compare. I am curious as to what that last 0.010" will be like in comparison. Is the new neck for that guitar?

The new neck is for my 52 reissue tele. I've had Nocasters before with a full inch thickness as well as a Crook T with a full inch. Those necks always felt just on the verge on being too big. However I always got used to them. My Masterbuilt nocaster feels as perfect a size neck as I've ever had. I've had it for a few months and felt it must have been just slightly smaller than my other Nocasters. So I checked the build sheet and sure enough it was a bit smaller. You wouldn't think you'd feel it with such a small difference. I never measured my crook or other Nocasters so maybe they were just over an inch.

That was my experience with the nocaster neck profile I tried - maybe too big. Since it wasn't my guitar, I can't know for sure. I have a hunch .990 or .980 with the U profile will be the ticket.

I do know that I like the "thick U" on the 52 RI I tried at L&M, but that was definitely not as thick as the nocaster neck.
I’ve had and still have a few large 1” thick necks. I have 2 Allparts necks right now and one is a, on the dot 1.0” all the way down. This is the U shape one. The other is 0.98” all the way down but it’s a large C shape. Both are fat but the U shape has a lot of shoulder so it feels way bigger.

I’ve played many teles with a U shape, some felt huge and I think it’s because some had more shoulder, not so much the actual number in size but the actual carve of the U shape.

I think it would be hard for several different companies to make a U the same size. On paper the numbers could be identical but the actual feel of the neck may be different. Either way you can’t go wrong with a U shape neck, on the smaller side or on the bigger side.
