I picked up an AE500 awhile ago from Mothers Music at a clearance price of $299, it's in this thread:

I assume this one would be very close to the same for quality control.
I find it actually a surprisingly good guitar for the price. It has a real Gibson feel to it.
A couple of issues:
-check the fret ends, mine were sharp (but I have needle files), the store tech should fix this for free
-the action was way too high, make sure setting it all the way down works for you. The nut seemed to be perfect.
-prob just a fluke, but on mine one of the caps was grounding against the pot so the tone control didn't work. Only took about 2 mins to fix.
Pickups sound good, playability is really good. For the price, I think they are a score.
