I like the name!
It'll either clear your head from too much eggnog, or rip yer noggin clean off!

Any rationale behind using two different kinds of Preamp sockets?

Sounds great!
The sockets are all Belton, but the first two preamp tubes have shielded bases. The amp is really quiet, so the shields aren't really needed.

Just installed a new 'deluxe fat switch' to fine tune the low end. The switch is like Friedman FAT switch, but with three settings instead of two. I've been doing this with 'point-to-point' circuitry, but the little PCB is a much better way to go.
